About Shelby Saberon

Background & Education

Shelby is a registered and licensed investment advisor representative (IAR) and the owner of Saber & Shield Wealth Management, LLC, a registered investment advisor (RIA) firm. Saberon was first exposed to the financial industry as an office assistant to his mother, Linda Kendell, from 1987 to 1989. Linda was a manager of Prudential Insurance branches and assisted a large clientele for over 30 years.

Saberon graduated magna cum laude and pursued a master’s degree in archaeology, working in the jungles of southern Mexico and Guatemala. He later decided that a financial practice was much more conducive to providing for a family. Shelby and his wife, Catherine, have four sons.

MISSION

Saberon’s mission is to help people achieve their dreams by reaching financial goals. This is done by developing a simple, readable financial plan (10 pages, one that does not require a financial degree to understand), which is tested with 1000 simulations. As the architect of his clients’ financial plans, Shelby’s plan designs are more academically driven, with deeply diversified portfolios involving thousands of different stocks across all major sectors of the economy. This is drastically different from typical portfolio designs of 20-30 stocks. Helping his clients know what they are invested in, and why, and sticking with a well diversified plan is central to Saberon’s focus. After the plan design is complete, helping his clients stay disciplined is part of Saberon’s process, with regular meetings.

Shelby absolutely loves taking care of people and their needs, which fits very well with his duties, obligations, and goals for his clients. With his academic background, he is known as being first and foremost an educator. Shelby is skilled at explaining complex industry and financial concepts in ways that ordinary people can understand.

Saberon was also a Division I college athlete, assistant coach, and tennis teaching professional. As such, he also considers himself a “financial coach” for his clients as much as an educator. He is passionate about helping his clients navigate the complex world of finance and prides himself on helping alleviate the stresses of preparing for retirement.
